Persecution because of  one’s sexual orientation or gender identity happens all over the world. Inspite of this, it remains an unfrequented topic by the general public. Films can be a first step to break the silence by representing queer people and their lives. The German amnesty international lgbt-group MERSI is therefore glad to support the section “queer in asia”.

A symposium on the Human Rights situation of lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgender (LGTB) IS HOSTED BY MERSI on the 21st January, asian hot shot’s queer day. On 17th  OF January, MERSI LEADS the panel discussion “Queer Cinema in South-East Asia” at Humboldt University Berlin.
