The boy Shigeki falls in love with the girl Yayoi, who is living in a big house on the hill over the city. Shigeki starts watching her using his new telescope. When his family is moving to another town he writes her a love letter and leaves.
After many years he has found Yayoi again. But instead of getting in touch with her directly, he continues to watch her using his telescope. Many years pass by, but Shigeki and Yayoi keep in touch via the telescope. Watching and being watched.
