Nicholas Chee,

(29), of Singapore graduated from Temasek Polytechnic with a diploma in Visual Communication. A professional art photographer, he teaches digital filmmaking as well. Winner of numerous awards in photography, his first short film, I’ll Live A Day For You won him two awards in the in the Fly-by-Night competition in 2005.

Becoming Royston is his first feature film. Co-founder of Originasian Pictures, he opened Singapore’s first independent HD cinema Sinema Old Schoolin 2007.

Tan Boon Huat, son of a prawn farmer on a remote island, breaks away from his classmates' bullying, harsh treatment by his father and the gloomy oppression of his little world confinement. With the help of his confidant he escapes to the mainland city. With the support of his first girlfriend and a super8 video cam, the dreamy youth tries to model himself into his hero, filmmaker Royston Tan – a slow process, eventually brought to fruition by an unexpected twist of fate.
