Vithalbhai K. Jhaveri
(1916-1985) was a member of the Indian National Movement and did much to promote Gandhian philosophy. He made it his life's mission to collect photographs, films and footage of the Mahatma from sources around the world.

The documentary film tells the life story of Mohandas K. Gandhi and his incessant search for truth. The Indian public conveyed on him the title Mahatma - Great Soul. The film is a result of intense 7 years labour and rare footage and photographs have been used; of which the majority of the material has been presented to public for the first time. The commentary is largely based on Gandhi's own words.
