Kato Naoki
A Bao A Qu is Kato Naoki’s (*1980) graduation work at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, where he studied under Kitano Takeshi and Kurosawa Kiyoshi.
The latter praises A Bao A Qu as the very cutting edge film. It was invited to the Pusan International Filmfestival New Currents.

The writer Shinpei became famous with a novel about a phantom killer case happened 9 years ago. Now he sets to write a sequel about the killer’s younger brother Harumi. Fiction and reality become intertwined as Shinpeis life is being disturbed by mysterous incidents from his self-created parallel-world. Through an observing camera perspective and a masterful use of sound Kato Naoki develops a gripping visual language.
