Asian Hot Shots Berlin 2009 Regulations / Teilnahmebedingungen
Please read through the following regulations carefully. The completion and sending of this form stands as a legally binding application to Asian Hot Shots Berlin 2009.
This form requires you to provide certain information regarding your entry such as contact addresses, lists of participants, a description of the contents of the parcel sent to us, etc.

Please note that you can only complete and send your registration if all required information is filled in.
- The organisers of Asian Hot Shots Berlin are: green chilies e.V.
- To submit you must be an Asian filmmaker living in Asia or abroad, or a filmmaker dealing with the Asian region in her/his films. The submitted works should have been produced between 2007 and 2009, but it is not a must.
Please note: We ONLY accept films from/about the following countries: South Asia (India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka), East Asia (China, Tibet, Mongolia, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macao) and Southeast Asia (Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Brunei, Laos, Myanmar, Timor-Leste) - The completed entry form and preview video (DVD, miniDV or VHS (no NTSC) tapes), must reach Asian Hot Shots Berlin by October 1st, 2008. There is no fee for submission. Please use a separate entry form for each film submitted. All sections of the form are to be completed. Stills (photos 300 dpi) of the film must be uploaded.
- Films and videos submitted will automatically be considered for all suitable categories as well as for the special programs.
- Film copies are insured for their print value for the duration of the festival. Compensation claims must be made within 10 days after the film has been returned. All deliveries to and from the festival are at the risk of the sender. Court jurisdiction is in Berlin.
- The costs of sending viewing tapes & screening copies to Asian Hot Shots Berlin are to be paid for by the sender. This also applies to film copies sent on from other festivals, in which case the applying parties must make the appropriate arrangements with the relevant festivals. The festival will cover the costs of returning the screening copies.
- All prints and video tapes from non-EU member states must be clearly marked with a customs declaration stating the following: ”For cultural purposes only. No commercial value.” Parcels from non-EU member states must also be accompanied by an invoice stating a value of no more than 10 Euro (under no circumstances should higher production costs be given). Costs arising from incorrect declarations will be charged to the account of the sender.
- Only the following film and video formats will be accepted for screening purposes – Film: 16 & 35 mm. Video: Betacam (SP) PAL, DVD, miniDV (PAL).
We don’t accept VCD, VHS, DigiBeta and Beta SP in NTSC as screening copy! If the original version of the film or video is in a language other than English or German, then the film must be subtitled in English. Exceptions may be made in certain cases. Those parties applying to the festival should only do so when they can guarantee that a screening copy of the film is available for the duration of Asian Hot Shots Berlin. The screening copy must arrive no later than ten days before the festival begins. - For video installation and performance proposals we need a detailed project sketch, a list of the technical equipment required, as well as photographs and a video documentation, if available.
- No film may be withdrawn from the Festival program.
- Notice of festival rejection will only be given when a legible email address has been included on the application form.
- It is the responsibility of producers, distributors or other applying organisations to ensure that permission has been obtained from all parties concerned before submitting a film for selection to Asian Hot Shots Berlin.
- All VHS/ DVD / mini DV viewing material remains in the Asian Hot Shots Berlin archive. They can be seen in the archive's video library only for scholarly and curatorial purposes. It is the future aim to build a film archive for Asian film in Berlin.
